    About the Research

Students balance a wide range of academic, personal and extracurricular commitments throughout their education. Their daily routines, study habits, use of technology and schedules vary widely, as do their sleep patterns. This research is for those students for whom sleep is a major cause of concern that affects their daily life.

The Student Sleep Health Research is an initiative by TheYouthTalks with Happy Heart & Soul to study the underlying factors affecting students' sleep health. Rather than making assumptions, we want to listen from students. This research aims to build a clear understanding that can inform meaningful, evidence-based solutions where they are needed.

Findings will be published as a public research report to spark informed conversations among students, educators, universities, employers and policymakers.

Why are students struggling with sleep
    What prevents quality rest
    Habits that affect sleep health
    What support students want

The research gives an opportunity to students to opt in for a 1-1 healing consultation to manage their sleep health. This is not a replacement for any medical diagnosis and treatment.

    The genesis of this research

The research Chair, Vanita Keswani — a former MEDIA AGENCY EXECUTIVE and a SPIRITUAL HEALING PRACTITIONER — recently had the privilege of addressing a group of medical students. These are her words:

“During my time at the medical institute, I ran a poll to understand what was the most pressuring issue or concern for these students. The results were rather surprising. Given the demographic, I was expecting academic pressure, concerns about career, peer pressure or relationship challenges to emerge. However, the concern that was undisputedly number one was sleep.

The emergence of sleep as the predominant issue was an important reality check and wake-up call for me to go deeper to understand the underlying causes behind this. In partnership with Youth Talks, we are working on uncovering what is happening beneath the surface. Our goal is to build on the vital insights from this research to find meaningful and holistic ways to help students tackle their sleep issues.”
